SHENMUE I & II OVERVIEW
Initially released for the Dreamcast in 2000 and 2001, Shenmue I & II are a open world action adventure combining jujitsu combat, investigative sleuthing, RPG elements, and memorable mini-games.
A tale of revenge. In 1986, teenage jujitsu artist Ryo Hazuki returns into the dojo of his father, Iwao Hazuki, only to watch his murder by a Chinese guy, Lan Di. A mysterious artifact is stolen by lan Di. Ryo vows to avenge his dad’s death and sets out tracing the path of Lan Di. The very first game in this series, Shenmue starts the tale since Ryo travels around Yokosuka, Japan, gathering clues about his father’s murder and dealing with nefarious gangsters on the way. The sequel Shenmue II continues the quest, this time crossing the sea to Hong Kong, China of Ryo. Ryo ventures deeper into the criminal underworld, fulfilling martial arts masters that assist him on his trip and give insight into his father’s death, and unravels the mysteries of this Dragon Mirror that his dad kept hidden.
