ETERNAL TREADS IS SEWING A TIME-LOOP TAPESTRY
Eternal threads were not what I expected them to be after my brief time with them. Although it is a survival game, a quick Google search will show it to be far more engaging than that. It takes walking simulators, puzzles, and thrillers and creates something unique, even if it’s flawed.
Eternal Threads is a game that puts you in the shoes of a time-traveler. You are responsible for making decisions and shaping the lives of small groups, so that time travel is not possible. It is a game about using one of the most extraordinary powers to prevent it from ever happening. It’s a meta-narrative that focuses on time travel, our choices throughout our lives, and the consequences of those choices.
It is necessary to understand the lives of just a few people living in a small British house. They must make decisions at the highest points of their lives. Their interactions are like watching ghosts, influencing their decisions and resulting in new outcomes. You can navigate the timeline at your leisure. While most of the game is set in the same rooms and bedrooms, the way you see it will be influenced by the context of each soul who touches its walls.
These walls can be pretty claustrophobic and contain up to five people. You will need to reveal a small part of their lives before making a significant decision that will affect the story. Eternal Threads has over 197 events and 54 choices. It is a game that puts the narrative first. You can explore many secrets, including a hidden key or secret nickname on a postcard.
Despite this, I have seen something sinister hiding beneath the game. The most disturbing parts are those you don’t see – the scenes where characters react to the confrontation and their actions when they’re not on-screen. This is something that I cannot wait to dig deeper into.
