Nintendo Casually Moves Xenoblade Chronicles Up 2 Months
It feels like only yesterday we were reporting that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was in development, and now, Nintendo is announcing the release date is now a bit earlier than expected. This is surprising, considering the game was originally said to be coming out in September when it was finally unveiled, but it looks like fans won’t have to wait that long to return to the RPG series.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will now launch on July 29 for the Switch. While the move is unexpected, it does give Nintendo a July game, as there wasn’t really any big Nintendo-published game coming out at the time. But even then, some Switch players will likely still be occupied with Mario Strikers: Battle League and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, both of which are set to launch in June. Splatoon 3 is also set to launch in the summer, but I imagine the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 move means that’s coming in August or maybe even early September.

The new release date was accompanied by a trailer that’s pretty story-heavy, but there’s also some combat footage in there, as well. The UI seems pretty busy in those sections, but a quick glance at screenshots of the second game shows that might just be a series standard, at this point.
If you’re looking to maybe get caught up on the Xenoblade Chronicles series before the third entry comes out, you’re mostly in luck, as the original game has been remade for Switch, and the second was released on the system initially. The only place it gets tricky is Xenoblade Chronicles X, which still carries the distinction of being one of the few Wii U exclusives to have remained exclusive following the Switch’s runaway success.
