The collection contains both The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth 2 and The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth.
The player controls the heroes and villains of the Lord of The Rings films. You can control armies as well as all of the heroes with a similar hero character to Warcraft. It is a very faithful recreation of the movie and some scenes are even included in the game.
The game contains a large campaign in which you can play the Journey of the Ring as the good forces, but it also has an evil campaign that allows players to play the evil forces.
The game had a lot of different races in Middle Earth. It also featured a large spell tree that allowed you to personalize your gameplay and a unique base-building layout.
