Starfield PlayStation 5 Sales Forecast is Absolutely Massive
Microsoft has predicted that Starfield will be an absolute smash hit on PlayStation 5 this year.
Starfield will no longer be available on PlayStation 5 following Microsoft’s $7.5 billion acquisition of ZeniMax Media. Bethesda is the parent company. Starfield was almost a PS5 Exclusive until Microsoft put big money down on the table.
Microsoft certainly has been spending a lot of money in the past few years. Not only did they acquire ZeniMax Media, but they also attempted to buy Activision Blizzard at 68.7 billion.
Microsoft’s attempt to acquire Activision-Blizzard was not a simple process. The CMA in the UK and the FTC have both opposed the acquisition despite it being approved by the majority of market regulators around the globe.
Microsoft was involved in a legal battle recently with the FTC over its attempt to stop Activision Blizzard’s deal. However, the company has won this battle in court. Microsoft is now only facing opposition from the UK.
The FTC case revealed a lot of information – Sony had originally planned to only release Starfield on the PS5, but it also plans to launch a PS5 Pro, and if that fails, release s lim PS5.
Microsoft has also revealed its projected sales for Bethesda’s Starfield and an upcoming Indiana Jones game (which will be developed by Wolfenstein Studio, MachineGames) if these games were released on PS5.
Microsoft, in a tweet by Stephen Totilo (video game journalist), predicted that Indiana Jones and Starfield would have sold 10 million units for PlayStation 5. Microsoft thought that Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Series Series X/S sales could make up for the loss.
As of now, Indiana Jones has no gameplay trailer or release date. Starfield will release on PC and Xbox Series S/X in 2023. This is unless you’ve pre-ordered the Premium Edition or Constellation Edition. In that case, it will arrive on 1 September. Starfield will also be available on Xbox Game Pass.
