Starfield is delayed due to Xbox’s encouragement
Xbox reportedly encouraged Bethesda, who was planning to release Starfield a year earlier than originally scheduled.
There is no doubt that Starfield, a game developed by Microsoft, is an important one. The Xbox brand, despite its success, has consistently lagged behind its competitor, PlayStation. It even admitted that it had lost the console war.
Starfield is a chance for Xbox to show it can compete with PlayStation when it comes to exclusives. I would argue that it is vital to the success of the company for it to live up to the hype.
It’s no surprise that Xbox was heavily involved in the development of this game. They allegedly urged Bethesda, to postpone its release for a whole year, which is a move highly praised by fans. Phil Spencer was the source of this information. He spoke about it on the Giant Bomb Podcast.
Spencer stated: “Truthfully, this game was released much earlier than the actual launch date.” He went on to state that they had spoken with the Starfield team to give them “the necessary time” to complete the game.
It was a tough decision, but it was right. After all, there is a popular saying that says a delayed or delayed-for-a-year game will eventually be good. But a game rushed is always bad. Nintendo followed this philosophy recently with the launch of Tears of the Kingdom in 2023. was used to perfect and fix features of the game.
It’s only a matter of time before we get to play what is expected to be a Game Of The Year candidate. It’s no secret that the pressure is on, as fans buy Xbox consoles just so they can play Starfield. Many others plan to take a week off to spend as much time as possible in the vast galaxy.
Starfield will be released on September 6th, this year exclusively for Xbox Series X/S & PC.
