After years of fan anticipation, a promising update suggests that EA Sports is once again working on a new Fight Night game. According to industry insider and reporter Mike Straw, the long-dormant project has been revived after being paused several times due to EA’s focus on its UFC series.

The last Fight Night installment was released in 2011, leaving boxing game fans eagerly awaiting a new release. Since then, EA Sports has shifted its attention to the UFC franchise, releasing its first UFC title in 2014. While rumors of a Fight Night revival first surfaced in 2021, development was halted to prioritize EA Sports UFC 5.

Straw’s latest report reveals that development on Fight Night has restarted, though its release remains uncertain. Originally planned to launch between the next two UFC titles, the project now has no set timeline. Straw estimates that it may take “three to four years” for the game to hit shelves, with a likely release on current-gen consoles.

EA has reportedly been closely monitoring the performance of Undisputed, a new boxing game by Steel City Interactive, which filled the void left by Fight Night. Despite Undisputed‘s rocky launch due to technical issues, its presence seems to have reignited EA’s interest in the boxing genre. However, the studio remains cautious, particularly regarding potential sales figures and the financial investment in licensing famous boxers.

While there is still much uncertainty surrounding the release of the new Fight Night, the news that EA is back to working on the project is enough to spark excitement among fans. For now, players will have to wait patiently for more updates.
