We believed pleasure and nostalgia playing the story mode — that as there would be a single-player adventure well worth the purchase price of admission! — along with the game really shines playing with it in a group or with a friend, bringing the old school era’s sofa co-op fun and camaraderie .
The soundtrack deserves a shoutout — by the title tune, a cool hip-hop to the treat in the end credits that’s so great we do not wish to spoil it — it is a really fantastic accomplishment. The mix of trendy hop/jazz era songs accompanying the courts keeps you grooving together, each tune being melodically memorable and rich accompanying the sense of all the phases that are diverse.
There are too many goodies to list , and in addition to this great intro and credits topics, special shout outs to the miniboss courtroom motif, boss court motif, rooftop court motif — okay there are actually too many to list, but every match so well and sometimes we wanted to only block the action and love the music alone. We will buy the soundtrack once it’s available.
Features of Dunk Lords:
- In Arcade Mode, play pickup games locally with 1-4 players.
- In Gauntlet Mode, attempt to win four games in a row with 1-2 players in pursuit of a high score. One loss and you are done.
- In Story Mode, guide talented young star Slice and his friends in their attempt to become true Dunk Lords. Play through Story Mode single-player or with a friend.
