Fabula Nova Crystallis was intended to be a reinterpretation of Final Fantasy. The Crystallis entries built a backstory around the shared mythology, including common terms such as false and l’Cie. The Final Fantasy 13 trilogy provided most of the details, although Type-0 offered some additional information. Lore was scattered in a dispersed manner. It was almost always presented as fragments of larger mythos or works within the game’s universes. Characters and data logs would refer to them, but there was little hard explanation, even though central figures from this mythos appeared in the 13titles. Fabulanova Crystallis focused on a small group of human characters that fought to alter their fates set by higher powers. It left little room for the players to see the bigger picture.
