Tomb Raider celebrates 25 Years of Anniversary

Square Enix, Eidos Montreal and Crystal Dynamics celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original Tomb Raider. They also made a few announcements about Lara Croft’s legacy.

Over 85 million copies have been sold across 20 Tomb Raider titles since 1996. This includes multiple movies, comics and toys. A new animated series is also in development.

Tomb Raider Anniversary Details

Many titles from the Tomb Raider series will go on sale on digital marketplaces including Steam, the PlayStation Store, the Xbox Games Store, Green Man Gaming and GOG. There are discounts up to 89%, so it’s a great time for curious gamers who have not yet met Lara.

Amazon Prime Gaming members will receive Rise of the Tomb Raider for free on PC between November 1st to 14th.

Crystal Dynamics and Feral Interactive will also bring two Tomb Raiders titles, Lara Croft & the Guardian of Light, to the Nintendo Switch in 2022.
These will be the first Tomb Raider titles available for Switch.

Tomb Raider Anime Series

Tomb Raider will be available on Netflix via a partnership between Legendary Entertainment and Powerhouse Animation. This is the same team that made Castlevania an anime series. Hayley Atwell (Captain America: Black Mirror) will play Lara Croft. Allen Maldonado, (Heels, The Wonder Years), will play Zip. Earl Baylon, who played the role of Jonah Maiava in the Tomb Raider trilogy, will return to his role as Earl Baylon.
