HUMANKIND VASSALS – WHAT VASSALAGE DOES WORK
Humankind’s Wars involve a lot of bloodshed, destruction, but they don’t always have to end in one civilization taking over a bunch of other’s cities. The victor could instead get Vassals for their rule.
Vassalage can only be obtained at the end a War in Humankind. It is a more difficult objective to achieve. Vassals require more War Support than simply capturing a city to be obtained. You will need to be more attentive to how much War Support you have when you are close to ending a conflict.
Humankind Vassals
A Vassal is a player who becomes a Vassal. This means that they will have a green circle under their civilization’s icon. A black circle with handcuffs is also used to mark Lieges. What does this mean for the relationship between players?
Humankind’s Vassals pay an homage in money to their Liege every turn. They are unable to control their diplomacy or determine their state religion. They are bound by the treaties that their Liege has negotiated with other players. However, the Liege must also deal with grievances and demands targeting their Vassal.
Vassalage in Humankind has one positive feature: the automatic sharing between Vassal, Liege of strategic and luxury resources. The Vassal has the option to free the player they are ruling over, but that requires renegotiating existing treaties. If that fails, the Vassal may also request freedom, which could either lead to their release or plunge them into war.
