FFXIV Leatherworker Unlock guide: Quest locations & Coordinates
Notes on The Crystalline Mean
All FFXIV gatherers and crafters start at Level 70. The Leatherworker is not included in this case. There are no more class-specific quests. Instead, you will gain access to “The Crystalline Mean.” You can find this small gathering spot for NPCs in The Crystarium back on Norvrandt after you have reached the capital city of Shadowbringers. It is marked “The Crystalline Mean” as an Aethernet point. If you are having trouble finding it, it’s on the top floor of the city, close to the Amaro Launch. Blue side quest markers will draw the attention of gatherers and crafters who have sufficient levels. The opening quest is also known as “The Crystalline Mean.”
Five NPCs are notable in the area, each with its quest chains. Each chain can be linked to multiple crafting and gathering classes so that you can complete every step of the questline with any of the relevant classes. The Fishers are the only exception; they receive their quests apart from all other classes.
In other words, the Crystalline Mean functions are very similar to Role Quests in combat classes. Any DPS magic user can complete any DPS wizard questline step by step. The Crystalline Mean missions for “Facet of Crafting” are shared by Weaver, Carpenter, or Leatherworker. As long as you meet the required level requirements, any of the quests in the series can be completed as one of the three Jobs. After talking to the NPC Recording Node, these quests begin at Level 70 with “Cherished memories.”
Almost every Crystalline Mean mission requires you to talk with someone, gather items, craft them, and turn them in. Custom Deliveries are for characters in Idyllshire, Elmore, and Idyllshire. For every delivery and quest, you get XP and Gil. Scrips are also available. Quest chains are a great way to increase your non-combat class levels. As you advance your Disciples of the Hand or Land, you can also use the Scrips for helpful gear and items.
Notice: To unlock The Crystalline Mean, you must complete Level 72 Main Scenario Quest ‘The Crystarium’s Resolve.’
Notes on Studium Deliveries
Although we don’t know much about the new quests at the moment, Square Enix provided the basics in a November Live letter before the release of Endwalker. This topic: These seem to be the Endwalker equivalent to The Crystalline Mean quests. It’s safe to assume that the quests will occur at The Studium, an established location in Old Sharlayan. This information is only a preview and some educated guesses. Please take this with a grain of salt until Endwalker goes online. We’ll then have a Studium Delivery Guide to accompany everything else.
FFXIV Leatherworker Basics and Importance
Like all other crafting classes in the game, the Leatherworker has the same capabilities as any other class. It is almost all in the possibilities you have with these skills. This includes equipment and leather armour used by many non-tank classes. This makes the Leatherworker a valuable but not exciting Disciple of Hand. It has some advantages over similar armour-makers, however.
Like the Weaver, the Leatherworker makes a lot of its armour. This armour can then be shared among all crafting classes. They help level up early. FFXIV is where the most severe crafters are found. You can get every Disciple in the game, and leatherworkers can improve your armour and accessories as you reach the maximum level of each Job. Gatherers also use leatherworkers as their primary source of materials (i.e. Wearing field clothes is the responsibility of miners, fishermen, and botanists. Gatherers then harvest the materials. It’s like a digital circular life but with rocks and other stuff.
Unfortunately, Leatherworkers are not able to benefit as much from the classes that other craftspeople receive. Most Leatherworker recipes require raw material from the game’s monsters. This is not a problem. Everyone should have at least one combat job to be able to progress through FFXIV. Kills can’t always guarantee monster parts.
Instead, they can randomly drop the number of items you need. On the other hand, Gatherers can use their skills to increase your chances of getting more items per drop and guarantee materials. This makes you less dependent on a particular class like a Leatherworker, though many crafty players also play as gatherers. This is a minimal net benefit. The bright side is that you can use Retainers to harvest monster parts. A Retainer can be trained to become a combat class. You can also sell the difficult-to-acquire materials to other crafters if they are not needed. You can also get more skins that you can use to make leather. It’s a win/win situation.
Later, Leatherworkers (like weavers) will be able to make high-end cosmetic items for Glamours. Each Leatherworker and Weaver have their own set of items they can create. As a result, any leatherworker who is serious about crafting will want to improve their Leatherworker level. It’s a good idea to get started (and make money) early.
And there you have the very basics of how to unlock the Leatherworker (and why you should) in FFXIV. Not to mention you now also have a handy list of locations to check as you progress through the class quests and your adventure. Best of luck slicing through those missions!
