FFXIV.6.2. Changes Steps in Faith and Thornmarch. Expands MSQ Trusts
In the most recent Live Letter, we had a lot of new information about Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.2. Island Sanctuary Criterion Dungeons Hildibrand Relic weapons, Omicron tribal quests – that’s some great stuff. FFXIV6.2 continues to expand the Duty Support system (aka Trusts), through older content. You will not only be able to bring AI-controlled characters into Heavensward MQ dungeons but there will also be improvements to older trials such as Steps of Faith or Thornmarch.
A preview image shared during the Live Letter shows Alphinaud and Estinien as party members. (Finally some justice to Ysayle. While the Duty Support updates for Reborn‘s Dungeons had generic NPCs, the Hellsward MSQ Dungeons seem to have key characters along for this ride. These dungeons will receive the Duty Support treatment using FFXIV 6.

The Duty Support and Trust systems were designed to make the main story content of FFXIV more accessible as a single-player experience. From the beginning, director Naoki Yoshida had this in mind. The Patch 6. x cycle will see additional updates to Duty Support content, eventually including Stormblood and bringing it all back together. My experience was that having important characters, such as AI party members, fighting alongside me during these critical moments enhanced the narrative experience.
