PowerA MOGA XP7X+ Controller Review: The Perfect Game Pass Companion

Cloud gaming services such as Xbox Game Pass make it easier than ever to transform your smartphone into a console-quality streaming device. The right controller is necessary for games that were not designed with mobile devices in mind.

You can hook an Xbox or PlayStation controller up to your device via Bluetooth, and play games while on the move, but it’s not something I would recommend. It’s very frustrating to have my phone wriggling around in a tiny clip, while I try to use my Xbox One controller to understand the action from a smaller screen. Mobile gaming is not possible with home console controllers. You can play some Xbox Game Pass games with only touch controls. But, anyone who chooses to play a game like Celestelike this is someone I don’t trust.

There are many mobile controllers available on the market today, and PowerA’s MOGA XP7X Plus controller may just be the best. It’s definitely the best controller I have ever seen on my travels. This is the ideal companion for anyone who wants to get into mobile gaming. It’s versatile, comfortable, and packs a surprising amount of great features.

This is obvious right from the start. It is basically an Xbox-quality controller that can be used on mobile devices. Anyone who has ever used Microsoft’s subscription service and the console will feel right at home with it. Just clip your phone into the connector and you’re good to go. My wife and I were happily absorbed in Tunic within minutes, while she watched Grey’s Anatomy on the TV. Although cloud gaming is not a replacement for big TVs, the MOGAXP7X Plus definitely made it easier.

The main problem with many of the cheap mobile controllers I have used is their inability to feel comfortable for long periods of time. Mobile game streaming is useless if you are unable to get into a good session on your console. The MOGA XP7X-X Plus is an excellent, sturdy piece of kit that transforms your phone into a console-quality handheld device that’s fun to use, whether you’re playing Forza Horizon 5 or The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Any device that effectively turns my phone into a Nintendo Switch-like Xbox is a good thing. The MOGA XP7X-X Plus’ rubberized grips make it a “proper” controller. I found it difficult to put down once the game started.

The controller is extremely versatile, offering players an incredible range of options, including remappable buttons and a removable phone stand. There is also Bluetooth and wired connectivity options to suit all needs. The controller can charge your phone while you are playing – this is a faster option, but it’s handy for gamers who need to be quick. It works well with all emulators if you’re interested.

It’s quite expensive at $99.99, but worth it for gamers who find themselves constantly reaching for their phones to stream gaming. Look no further if you are looking for a controller that instantly turns your phone into a mobile gaming paradise.
