Skyrim: Chain Of Time takes players to an entirely new island
A new mod for Skyrim will take players to a new and exotic location, on an original quest to stop the Thalmor.
It’s going to be a while until we see The Elder Scrolls VI. Bethesda is currently preparing for the launch of its first original IP in years, Starfield, and will likely commence full-time development on the next Elder Scrolls game shortly after.
Todd Howard has spoken about the potential Xbox exclusive, saying it’ll likely last players decades due to its planned content, and will likely be the last game he ever works on, unless he sticks around for Fallout 5.
In the meantime, fans are still playing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which has lasted players for nearly 15 years since its release in 2011. This is largely due to the modding community, who are constantly adding and changing content to create new adventures for players, from reworks of its core mechanic, to completely original quests.
The quests are the topic of today’s discussion, as a new mod takes the player to the distant archipelago, The Chain. Titled The Chain Of Time, and created by modder Betalille, the expansion features a tropical island experiencing a strange climate, as well as plenty of evil Thalmor warriors who are up to no good. The main quest is broken down into three parts, and there are also 11 side quests to get stuck into if you fancy taking a different path.
Players can start the expansion after waiting 24 hours in-game, before traveling to Winterhold where they’ll find the NPC who’ll begin the adventure.
It’s a nice change of pace to the cold, bleak winter vibes Skyrim is known for, swapping out the cold mountaintops and storms for golden beaches and glaring sunlight. Whether you’re on your first or hundredth playthrough of the game, The Chain Of Time is well worth checking out if you’ve seen everything the main game and DLCs have to offer.
