Assassin’s Creed Odyssey RTX remaster melts your computer
It may be almost half a decade old, but Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is an undeniably pretty game.
Although Odyssey was initially released on the last generation of consoles, it later received a new-gen update that added 60fps support on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, making the whole game run smoother than ever before. Now though, as DSOGaming reports, YouTube content creator Digital Dreams has now got Odyssey running in glorious 8K on an incredibly expensive NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card, and it looks absolutely stunning.
On top of the 8K visuals, Digital Dreams has used Reshade Ray Tracing to give the appearance of ray tracing, since the game itself doesn’t directly support it. All in all, the game commands so much power that my laptop struggled to even play the video of it smoothly – I can’t even imagine how toasty a PC would become if it attempted actually running the title. Even so, it looks gorgeous – the sparkling blue sea has never looked more vibrant, and the lighting is spectacular. Take a look below.
Other YouTube users are in love: “This is actually stunningly beautiful. What a lively, colorful tropical paradise. Definitely makes you feel happier and more engaged with the brightness and clarity of the lighting, etc.,” drfoulcheesevirus3205 commented. “I really LOVE this game, SO BEAUTIFUL! Your efforts have made this game look more like a paradise,” wedanny9092 wrote.
There’s currently loads of stuff for Assassin’s Creed fans to look forward to, including the upcoming Codename Red (set in feudal Japan) and Codename Hexe, which is said to include some “strong feminine energy”. Does that mean it’ll have a female protagonist? Maybe, but that’s pure speculation. We’ll just have to watch this space.
Next on the horizon is Assassin’s Creed Mirage, featuring Valhalla’s Basim. Mirage is set to release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X/S, and PC on 12 October, so there’s not too long to wait for it now.
