PlayStation 5 System Update: Free Store Credit for Users
A future update to the PlayStation 5 will include a newly introduced system that allows players to earn store credits for free.
There are many features that PlayStation 5 users have longed to bring back to their consoles. would like to see custom themes returned. This latest beta update brings a number of long-awaited improvements.
Sony did not mention that the PlayStation Stars system will be integrated into the PlayStation 5 software. According to Twistedvoxel’s report, the PS5 privacy settings have an option that allows you to control who is able see your PlayStation Stars status.
It is confirmed that PlayStation Stars will now be available on the console. Currently, it can only be accessed via an application.
PlayStation Stars, a loyalty program launched last year by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. allows players to earn rewards for completing various “campaigns” and activities. The activities can range from winning tournaments and earning trophies to checking in for a particular game.
Most of the rewards offered are not very impressive. Your hard-earned rewards can be exchanged for… digital collectibles in digital display cases. Lovely.
As other PlayStation users have noted, it is possible to redeem your points for money on the PlayStation Store. This means that you can earn free store credit by playing games. It’s not a huge amount of money, but if you save enough, it can be a decent discount.
The PS5 update and the Stars integration should make the loyalty program easier to use. Many users had reported problems tracking their points in the “janky app”. Sony should have some more information to share as they roll out other features on the PS5.
