It’s worth checking out Fallout: Whispering Hills, a horror full of terror
Fallout 4’s Bethesda mod transforms the Bethesda game into a first-person Silent Hill experience, and it is horrifyingly great.
The Fallout games are not horror, but they do a great job of making the player feel uncomfortable and surprised. There’s nothing more terrifying than being pursued by a deathclaw while under-leveled, or sneaking through a vault filled with ghouls.
The Whispering Hill mod is a great way to increase the level of fear. It turns the game’s atmosphere into a post-apocalyptic nightmare.
Whispering Hill covers Fallout 4 with a dense fog, and then populates it with several monsters. The Silent Hill series’ Siren Heads, Ghouls, and Pyramid Heads are some of the enemies you will encounter.
The in-game music and sound effects are also completely revamped. Instead of the funky tunes from Fallout, the dark sounds of the Commonwealth area, along with the national themes, have been replaced by bleak, horrific, or ominous tones.
There’s also a new questline, as well as new voiced NPCs who will take you to a whole new world if your stomach is up for it.
The mod Episode 2 was recently uploaded. It adds new areas to the map, including a hospital. The new areas are sure to have their own scares, and spooks around every corner.
It’s a fantastic mod that will change the way horror gamers play. After a certain point in Fallout games, it’s easy to go gung-ho, blasting through the game. But this mod will make even the best players think twice.
Nexus Mods is now offering Fallout 3: Whispering Hills episodes 1 and 2.
