The first official look at the PlayStation 5 Slim is now available online. It’s not small
Sony is reportedly on the cusp of unveiling a new console. This has to be one of the most poorly-kept secrets in recent years.
Since the original PlayStation was released, Sony has always produced at least one model of the current-generation console. It could be a slimmer version or an even more powerful machine, like the PS4 Pro from the previous generation.
Sony has been rumored to be planning the release of both a PlayStation 5 Pro as well as a PlayStation 5 Slim in this generation. However, we haven’t heard any official announcements from the company. Unconfirmed reports should be taken with a grain of salt. However, I also believe that there is no fire without smoke.
In May 2023 there was a report that Sony’s PS5 Pro would be priced at PS700. This certainly made some gamers sweat. Previous reports claimed the PS5 Pro was due to be released in 2024.
Microsoft has announced that the PS5 Slim will be released by the end of the year at a cost of $300. This is in response to the court case between Microsoft and the FTC regarding the Activision Blizzard acquisition.
The rumored PlayStation 5 Slim ‘first look’ has been posted online, which may add some validity to the previous rumors. It’s important to take the image below with a grain of salt as Photoshop can do anything.

Sony could finally end our suffering by announcing the PlayStation 5 Slim within the next few weeks.
Sony could make the big announcement at its next PlayStation Direct, whichever event it may be. Watch this space, as they say.
