Starfield adds an innovative twist to Bethesda’s factions
Joining factions is something we know well. It’s something we do every year and nothing changes. We thought that was the case, but Starfield is constantly changing to keep things interesting.
Bethesda has really pushed the envelope with its new RPG. They are hopeful it will give Baldur’s Gate 3, which dominates every gaming outlet, a good run for their money. GAMINGbible is also included in this accusation. We’ll also be able to betray our allies, in addition to the 20 companions that will be with us on this journey.
You may not have a cruel heart. But for us, who played Mass Effect as both a Paragon and later as Renegade – the desire to be evil has never gone away. We pride ourselves in taking advantage of every opportunity to be bad, no matter what the price. In Skyrim, we joined the Dark Brotherhood to exact vengeance and destroy the faction within.
In a Starfield developer Q&A, one participant asked if they could be in one faction and then switch to another so that they could pass on secret information. Sneaky sneaky. Emil Pagliarulo said, “Ha!” You can infiltrate Crimson Fleet to help UC SysDef. This questline is specific.”
Later, they added that “all of the playable groups can be finished independently.” You are an undercover agent for UC SysDef in the Crimson Fleet. But whether you choose to betray UC SysDef or the Fleet is up to you.
The choices we make are important. We can carve out our own paths among the stars by making our choices. We may not all be destined to achieve such heights, but it is comforting to know that we have the option of becoming a double agent.
Nine Starfield factions as well as 3 religions make it difficult to know if any kind of religious espionage will be done …? It would be a great experience to have to sneak into the temple of the gods and weave stories like the old ladies at a knit circle.
Starfield will be available on Xbox One and PC from 6 September.
