A couple of months after the last search within the City of Rockport, Brian decides to visit his home city, Palmont City wit, with an arrest warrant from the federal government against Brian.
While returning, the city is in disarray, and as he drives toward his home, he begins to recollect details of the events that occurred before leaving his Palmont City police at that moment. In a flashback, it becomes apparent that a close friend of his, Darius ( Tahmoh Penikett ), provided Brian with the Toyota Supra so that he could participate in a race for Darius.
The race gets underway; Brian starts to take the lead. However, when they reach the line to finish, others are confronted by EMP weapons. Which instantly turns off the cars of other racers apart from Brian’s Blue Toyota Supra used by Brian. At that instant, it is time that all Palmont City police arrive at the spot and detain all racers who participated but not Brian, who attempts to lure his wife Nikki into the car carrying the suitcase; however, his attempt fails, and he leaves only the bag filled with gambling cash inside the vehicle. Brian quickly leaves the scene but is caught as he examines the suitcase.
He discovers he was duped into accepting an envelope full of documents rather than cash. At that point, Darius calls Brian and informs him that rival gangs demand the money back because of the intervention of the police. Darius informs Brian that he should quickly take his Toyota Supra and flee the city.
Today, as Brian continues to explore Carbon Canyon with his BMW M3 GTR E46 in pursuit of the city, he is surprised to see former Sergeant Cross ( Dean McKenzie ) seen with the Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06 behind Brian (who has been fired off in the Rockport Police Department for letting escape last time and now is an infamous bounty hunter) and pursues Brian to capture him as soon as possible.
Although Brian tries to flee from Cross, The chase ends after Brian accidentally crashes into the road, crashing his BMW M3 GTR E46 into the truck laden with pipes made of steel, causing damage to the vehicle.
