Stronghold 3 was released in 2011 by 7Sixty. It is a real-time strategic video game developed by Firefly Studios. The player can choose from two different single-player campaign options. The story-driven campaign chronicles The Wolf’s return with a series of real-time missions.
The economic campaign is based on a simulation and the focus of this campaign is almost exclusively on village productivity and resource allocation. The stories of both campaigns are told through a series of black-and-white graphical novels. In the castle siege game, players can also “change history” by choosing to either attack or defend historical castles.
Havok Physics is used in the game engine to influence how effective burning log traps is and cause castle walls and buildings to fall realistically. The game engine also features an advanced lighting system, a weather system, and a brand-new climate. The buildings in Stronghold 3 have a more dynamic look than ever before. They change their appearance and housing capacity as they move away from the keep. The grid system is not used to build castles anymore.
