Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater’s Unique Difficulty Settings and Development Updates
Konami has been slowly revealing more about Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, and while a release date remains elusive, we’ve recently learned about the game’s distinct difficulty modes. In an interview with Famitsu, production producer Noriaki Okamura, and creative producer Yuji Korekado discussed how they’ve tailored the game to accommodate both new players and veterans of the series.
The New Style mode features a fully modernized third-person perspective, allowing players to move while shooting and offering a broader field of view. This dynamic style makes combat smoother and easier to manage. In contrast, the Legacy Style remains faithful to the original 2004 game with its fixed top-down camera, preserving the classic feel.
Balancing these two styles presented a challenge. Korekado explained that the New Style’s increased ease of movement lowered the difficulty more than anticipated. To keep things fair for players who choose the Legacy Style, the developers decided to maintain separate difficulty systems for each mode. This way, players should experience a consistent challenge, regardless of which playstyle they select.
Despite this exciting update, Konami remains tight-lipped about the release date. Okamura mentioned that while the game is playable from start to finish, the focus is on ensuring fans aren’t disappointed. The team is currently refining the game, aiming to announce the release only when it’s ready for a firm confirmation.
With pre-orders open for months now, it seems the game is nearing completion, but Konami is taking a cautious approach to ensure the final product lives up to expectations.
