Discord Snowgiving has made Discord sounds quite different for channels today
Update: Discord has removed all Christmas Discord sounds. You should see the noises disappear when you restart Discord.
What is going on? It turned out to be Discord. It turns out that Discord Snowgiving is a Discord modification with some hilarious (yet cursed!) Discord sound effect. You get new Discord join sound effects when you join or leave voice channels. You also get a new Discord going sound.
What is Discord Snowgiving?
Discord developers have some wintery surprises for us as part of their winter celebration. Today, December 6, is all about Discord sound. You never know what’s on the other side.
Discord has released a partial calendar for the Discord Snowgiving event. Today’s Discord Snowgiving event was focused on new sound effects. Tomorrow might see a new look and new icons. We know what to expect, but we don’t have a lot of information.
Everyone gets a surprise on December 7. We aren’t sure what it means. Members of Nitro get a surprise gift on December 7. We are still not sure what it means. Every day, there are surprises for everyone until December 13. Members of Nitro also receive bonus gifts on December 10, 12 and 11.
We also got some new and irritating Discord sounds on December 6. Discord’s new charity merch shop is now open. It sells Discord-themed clothing and hoodies and beanies, and a keyboard with a Discord colour scheme. Discord currently tracks the sale of over $200,000. Disagreement and gamers have raised $120k already. This seems to be changing at minute intervals as of this writing. The 200k charity goal will likely be reached by the end.
This new Discord Snowgiving will last until December 13, whether you love it or not. It will likely return to the usual Discord, but it could be that it won’t. Were we responsible for this possible fate, Krampus?
