Split gate Launches Season 0 With New Map and Fan Favorite Game Mode

It has been a busy few months for 1047 Games and its free-to-play multiplayer shooter—split gate. The game is still in open beta. However, it seems to have gained a lot of attention from Twitch streamers and eSports teams. This popularity surge has brought about some problems. Server queue times for Splitgate have spiralled out of control players were forced to wait up to an hour due to server issues. The server problems have been fixed, but the studio will continue to tease new content.

Recently, 1047 Games has been teasing a big announcement at Gamescom 2021. The split-gate could be released at some point, but many speculated otherwise. However, the original Tweet from Splitgate seems to have refuted this. Although the initial tweet confirmed 10 million downloads, it also stated that more work is needed before the game can be launched. Gamescom Opening Night Live revealed the details after teasing a lengthy beta session.

Splitgate’s new trailer was unveiled at Gamescom 2021. However, it did not have a release date. The game is still in beta, but the 1047 Games’ development team announced the launch of Season 0 and a new Battle Pass. The trailer showcased more sophisticated gameplay, including headshots, collateral kills and portal takedowns. This was on a new map called Karman Station. It is a reimagined version of the Outpost map. This was not the only announcement for season 0.

Split gate confirmed that a new game mode is now available. Contamination is a game mode based on Infection, popularized by Halo. It’s free to play along with the other game modes. The Gamescom trailer featured a variety of these modes, including the disco-ball inspired Oddball and King of the Hill. Capture the Flag is also included as well as the Deathmatch modes.

The much-requested ping system, which is used in Apex Legends, didn’t make it this time. 1047 Games has listened to fans’ feedback and even acknowledged being open to the idea. Fans will need to wait for further information as there is no confirmation that a ping system will be added.
