Dragon Ball: The Breakers brings DBZ Multiplayer Combat to Consoles
Developer Dimps and Bandai Namco announced the launch of Dragon Ball: The Breakers, a new asymmetrical multiplayer online game that takes place in Dragon Ball’s universe.
Press release by Per Bandai Namco:
“Dragon Ball”: The Breakers consists seven-versus-one matches in which seven “Survivors” have been sucked into a mysterious phenomenon called “Temporal Seam”. They must then contend with the powerful eighth player, the iconic franchise rival “Raider,” whose mission is to destroy the Survivor team.
The Survivors do not have superpowers, so they must use various power-ups, weapons and pilotable vehicles to fight and evade Raiders while looking for the Super Time Machine that will allow them to escape into oblivion. The Raider can also play as Cell, Buu or Frieza to gain the overwhelming power to defeat the Survivor team and ensure complete dominance.
Dragon Ball: The Breakers features a Survivor character customization feature that allows players to create their own avatars using familiar Dragon Ball Survivor skins or optionally purchased in-game credits. Dragon Ball: the Breakers will also link save data to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
Bandai Namco also provided some details about Dragon Ball: The Breakers’ history:
“Survive and live. You can evolve to win.
Seven ordinary citizens are caught in an unexpected temporal phenomenon and find themselves trapped in a Temporal Seam. They share their prison with the Raider (an enemy from another timeline who wields an overwhelming power).
The Raider’s only chance of survival is to get out of the Temporal Seam using the Super Time Machine.
In a race against the clock, the cunning of Survivors collides with the power and might of the Raider. To break free or to be broken,
Breakthrough or Breakdown.
Perfect Cell, a multiplayer game inspired by Dead by Daylight where one player can kill people is a unique twist on the Dragon Ball formula. It will hopefully appeal to anime fans.
Dragon Ball: The Breakers will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will also be available on Switch and PC in 2022.
