Blizzard Boss Declares That He Wants to “Rebuild Trust” in The Company
Activision Blizzard came under fire last year following the horrific lawsuits. These exposed misogynistic and unfair workplace practices.
Many questions were raised after Microsoft announced their massive plan to purchase Activision and all its studios by June 2023.
Following the announcement of the acquisition, Mike Ybarra (head of Blizzard entertainment) issued a statement outlining what the company is doing to improve the working environment of its employees and regain the trust of the gaming community.
He wrote, “I have been leading Blizzard for some months now, and I want to share some exciting news as well as the exciting news this week. Also, I want to share a few initial thoughts as we strive to put our players and team at the forefront of all we do.” “2021 was a challenging year for us all. We care about the dignity and respect of everyone we meet.
We are professionals who care deeply about the craft of our profession and want to work in a safe and supportive environment. We are working to restore your faith in Blizzard. This is our top priority, now and in the future.
The company has also announced the appointment of a new leader in their Human Resources department. This will help “build trust, empower teams and foster a safe, positive working environment for everyone.” They also plan to include the inclusion of a diversity and equity leader. Blizzard has tripled the size of its compliance and investigation teams, and they have “declared clear accountability for unacceptable behavior.”
