Mortal Kombat 12 leaked – are they real?

Is a leak a teaser or a leak? Are they less irritating? Jonathan Andersen, a NetherRealm producer, tweeted an image showing his desk covered with MK memorabilia. The corner of his screen contained a single file named “MK12_Mast”. Was this an intentional faux pas or part of a huge tease?

The photo has been removed. Again, this is no proof that the photo is genuine and Anderson isn’t just playing with us. The tweet was only 10 minutes long before it was deleted. This gave the internet time to complete its investigation. Further evidence that this might be a ruse is the partially visible email, which suggests that MK supporters are constantly searching the internet for information. Hmmm.

Rumours of an MK12 have circulated since the middle of last year. Given how lucrative the franchise is, including its DLC, it wouldn’t be surprising that it was rumoured.

This image, taken from the deleted tweet, depicts the screen section that is causing all the fuss. It isn’t easy to see with your naked eyes. You will need to zoom in using Photoshop. It all seems so mysterious because of that. It is almost too well placed in the frame. NetherRealm has a history of teasers around other titles.

We are going to take this one as intentional. We would like to see Andersen’s email from his bosses if it is not.

Mortal Kombat 11 is now available for free on PlayStation Plus and Game Pass, so it’s clear that the time is right to announce a new game. The fighting game’s fan base has been reenergized.
