Welcome to Arcadia Bay. Deck Nine, seven years after the original episodic narrative Life is Strange took gaming by storm in January 2015, has revived this nostalgic journey. It weaves together a heartfelt coming-of-age story with a dark and mysteriously twisted drama.

Although the original game received positive feedback regarding its characters, story, and charming style, its fatal flaw was its inability to characterize animations and models. It was a game focused on storytelling and visuals rather than gameplay. The game needed some enhancements to breathe life back into the story. Deck Nine assumed the role of Dontnod, bringing with them their favorite partners in crime as well as a rewind. All this in one package.

The Life is Strange Remastered Collection is now available on all major platforms.

STORY – YOUR CHOICES. YOUR STORY

Maxine Caulfield. Maxine Caulfield is a young adult who has a passion for photography and returns to her hometown of Arcadia Bay to enroll at Blackwell Academy. A few months later, she sees her childhood friend, Max, get shot in the girls’ bathroom. She is shocked to discover that she can reverse the time and save Chloe’s life. Chloe was left to her own devices before Max returned. She suffers from trauma and loneliness, but Rachel Amber changes her life. Then, she mysteriously vanishes.

We play Max at first. He is shy and awkward. Her best friend, Chloe Price, is her loud-mouthed, polar opposite. Together, they take us on a journey that will reveal the secrets of Arcadia Bay as well as the disappearance of Rachel Amber. They also explore what their relationship means to each other and you, the player.

This touching story teaches you how to change reality and what life will look like. This story shows that you can change everything. Is this enough to change your life? It’s an intense journey that will leave you feeling numb. It packs a powerful emotional punch. You’ll find yourself falling in love with these two main characters during the craziest week of their lives.

EXPERIENCE THE DOUGO’S PAST

Before the Storm Remastered, we travel back in time to where we play as Chloe and learn about her relationship with Rachel Amber. This story does a good job of describing the past and showing how Chloe was emotionally damaged, but it lacks a lot of the first installment’s impact. Its pace is slow and doesn’t have the same result.

It wouldn’t appeal to new players as a standalone title. If you are new to this world, it is good to read Max’s story before you start. This will make it easier for new players to enjoy the prequel. There is still a great little story left to tell for those who want more.

GAMEPLAY – THROUGH a VIEWFINDER

You will most likely be deciding what your character does in cutscenes. You can choose what happens next, almost like an interactive TV series. Except for cutscenes, you can control your protagonist through a third-person view. You can freely move about your environment and interact with people or objects. Each episode also contains optional collectibles. There are also places to take a break and enjoy the stunning visuals of Arcadia Bay.

The game rewards those who spend a little more time exploring the stories to learn more about the characters. This allows you to make better decisions at crucial times. The game is well balanced between gameplay and cutscenes, which reminds me of The Walking Dead Game. Players who are more interested in the characters can explore more. Those who want to advance the story can go ahead and do whatever is required.

MAX

Life Is Strangely Remastered allows you to rewind almost any time you like. This will enable you to go back to change your decisions and see what the outcome might be. You can then choose the direction you want your story to take. These outcomes can sometimes be disappointing, just like other choice-based games. This tool is fun to use and allows you to play various choice-based games in a completely new way.
