We haven’t had a new F-Zero title in a while. It’s been a long time since F-Zero Climax, a Japanese-only Game Boy Advance game by Nintendo, was released. We’ve waited a little longer in the West. Sega developed 2003’s F-Zero GX for GameCube. Although Mario Kart 8 has two F-Zero tracks, and Captain Falcon is still a fixture in Smash Bros., it’s not the same as a brand new game. There has been speculation about a new game, and while we don’t expect anything beyond a Nintendo Direct presentation to be released, here are our thoughts on a possible next F-Zero entry.

Nintendo has confirmed that a new Direct presentation will air tomorrow, February 9. The presentation will begin at 2pm PT/ 5pm ET/ 10PM GMT/ 11pm CET. It’s expected that it will last approximately 40 minutes.

An “Ultra-Realistic F-Zero Switch Game” Was Pitched to Nintendo but Rejected – Giles Goddard, a former Nintendo programmer, revealed in a GameXplain interview that an “ultra-realistic F-Zero Game” had been pitched to Nintendo. It was rejected. Read more.
