Report: Call of Duty 2023 Delay Until 2024

Activision has been releasing a new Call of Duty title every year since 2005. The shooter franchise covers everything from World War II to space.

After Microsoft acquired the publisher, rumours of an end to annual releases began to circulate, much to the delight and dismay of players who had grown sick of games being launched with various bugs and glitches.

According to reports, Call of Duty 2023 received a delay up until 2024 to meet the needs of players.

Call of Duty 2023 Delayed

A report by Bloomberg published February 22nd, 2023, states that the first Call of Duty game will not be released in Q4. Multiple sources confirmed that the message was accurate, though Activision has yet to prove it.

Call of Duty 2023 will likely see Treyarch as the lead developer. Early rumours point towards a sequel to 2020’s Black Ops Cold War. Strangely, Call of Duty 2023 was delayed given the amount of profit each new title generates every year.

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier confirmed that the Microsoft deal did not influence the decision. He claimed poor Vanguard sales and Warzone oversaturation were the main factors in the delay.

Call of Duty 2023 is being delayed for a reason.

Many factors led to Treyarch delaying the next Call of Duty title. Modern Warfare II will get two years of content after launch, while Treyarch will be the first to enjoy a three-year development cycle.

There’s plenty of Call of Duty new to look forward to, with Warzone 2 coming along with Modern Warfare II.
