Is this Beefy Elden Ring Illusory Wall A Bug? I’m Stressed

The viral video of the Elden Ring has me having a good time. I find myself laughing and crying at the same time. Someone discovered one of the FromSoftware illusory walls, which can take a few more hits (read “a few” as 50), and I feel a little like Elden Ring was created just to make me mad.

Reddit user u/teristam shared a clip showing one wall in Volcano Manor refusing to collapse after a single smack. It only went down after 50 hits. It is still unclear if this wall is the stubborn structure it is. Is it real? Is it possible to hit every surface of Elden Ring? We don’t know.

The animation looks strange for a fake wall. After some digging, it seems you can’t roll into the wall to make it behave normal. The Volcano Manor wall is acting strangely according to Polygon. It doesn’t make the usual breaking sound and will respawn when it rests. It is a little more difficult to determine if FromSoftware intended it this way. However, Polygon’s reporting makes it seem more likely that the bug was intentional.

Zullie, a Souls YouTuber who is known for digging into FromSofware codes and uncovering secrets, shared a thread explaining the way that the wall works. It appears to have 9,999 HP, but no defense. Zullie claims that the original Dark Souls structures had 999 HP and 999 defense. This assumes that Volcano Manor’s mysterious wall was or is meant to be destroyed by an events trigger. Perhaps it’s for something hidden, a later DLC thing, or just an oops-forgot-to-change-that moment made by FromSoftware.
