Netflix gives another anime game the treatment. The streaming company made a new announcement and announced Tekken Bloodline will be launched worldwide in 2022.

The Tekken animated show takes us back to Jin Kazama’s early years. It follows Jin through his journey of learning Kazama-Style martial art and eventually participating in The King of Iron Fist Tournament. Jun is the mother of Jin Kazama’s daughter, so I assume that the woman at the beginning is her momma Kazama. We also know from older games that her son saw her being attacked by an ogre.

In quick succession, the Tekken anime trailer also lists a few other familiar roster members. You can see frames of Heihachi Mihima, Paul Phoenix and Leroy Smith. It appears that the Netflix Tekken is at most sticking to some vague story Tekken was telling.

This was a slow-motion video that I watched a million times, and to my dismay, there wasn’t even a hint of Hwoarang. He’ll probably be there along with Yoshimitsu, my favorite that I’ve always been terrible with. Although I think Netflix is a mixed bag, I have to admit that the creepy, learing “Kazama” Heihachi said towards the end made me pumped and standing up straight. I will remain cautiously optimistic and slowly become more annoyed the longer we go sans Hwoarang.
