PlayStation has High On Life available right now
Unexpectedly, Xbox 2022’s most popular exclusive has landed on PlayStation. It’s a huge win for PlayStation, but where did heck that come from?!
In general, developers make it a big deal when their exclusive games are released on another platform. This usually happens weeks or months prior to its launch. Spreading out across platforms allows thousands of gamers to finally experience a game they missed at the initial launch, resulting in a new surge of interest. For some reason, this is not the case with high on life.
Squanch Games’ comedic FPS was released first on PC and Xbox One on December 13, 2022. The internet was immediately flooded with videos of sentient talking weapons saying stupid things and berating players for pausing their game. It was released for Xbox Game Pass the day it launched, so it would be understandable that PlayStation owners felt left out. But not anymore.
High on Life is now available for PS4 and PS5 following the announcement made at San Diego Comic-Con. IGN reported that Squanch Games studio director Mike Fridley said, “The fans spoke.” The fans have spoken. And spoken. Since its launch in December, we’ve enjoyed the high on life’s reception. We’re excited that the PlayStation version is coming very soon. Soon! “Thank you for your patience.”
It has been revealed previously that a expansion, called High on Knife will be released later this year. Fridley said that the DLC will be “a bit spooky” this time, and may break some players’ dreams for a “while”. It’s surprising that, given the humor of the original game, the DLC will lean heavily into horror.
