Armored Core 6 critics spark discussion about Elden Ring graphics and game engines

Elden Ring continues to be a popular game thanks to Mods as well as bizarre challenges. They are waiting for news about the highly anticipated DLC. While many FromSoft players are anxiously awaiting the release of Armoured Core 6, others have been waiting for the game’s highly anticipated DLC.

This game was announced at the Game Awards in 2010. It will be released on 25 August and promises to deliver plenty of mech combat.

The graphical fidelity with which these encounters are rendered is the newest chapter of a longstanding discussion about game engines.

What are your thoughts on the visuals of Armoured Core 6 up to this point in time?

The debate began with a LynnV post, an independent developer who took issue with certain things that were said in the video preview for the Fextralife game.

The developer chose a clip of the Video in which the narrator talks about the graphics and suggests that the graphics “suffer” from being brought to the last-gen consoles. The developers also claim that FromSoftware needs to consider switching to “a newer” engine to “avoid falling further and further behind in the industry.”

These viewpoints are, as you might expect, controversial. Some of those who responded to the clip rejected the notion that Elden Ring’s graphics did not deliver good visuals. Others reiterated the fact that switching engines isn’t a miracle solution as some people outside the games industry think.

Mitch Dyer of Warner Bros Games Montreal tweeted: “I beg everyone to stop saying ‘the engines are outdated’ as if it were intelligent criticism.” He added that it was a stupid thing to do because it shows you don’t know much about the tech and pipelines. It’s not also how art is made.

Noclip’s Danny O’Dwyer said that these comments would have been better received if presented as the YouTuber’s opinions: saying, “Obviously, this is important to him, but to think his choices represent objective truths, it’s arrogant.”

As soon as the guides for Elden Ring: The Shadow of Erdtree and Armoured Core 6 are available, we will post them.
