Spider-Man Reign 2 has been officially announced
Marvel’s Spider-Man has always been a popular character, whether in comics, films, cartoons, games, or animations.
Spidey’s latest adventure is a follow-up to Spider-Man Reign, which has been described as the “most famous Spider-Man tale” ever.
Think again if you thought that Peter Parker would be a gleeful, friendly neighbor. Mary Jane Parker, Parker’s moral guide, has died after a cancer battle. She was infected with Parker’s radiation-filled population juice. As you might imagine, the version of Spidey in this world is filled with resentment and guilt.
The synopsis for the graphic novel reads: “Thirty years into Spider-Man ‘s Future, New York City is a safe territory, though authoritarian, under the total control of Mayor Waters.” The Reign, the government-controlled police force that is in charge of police work, has replaced supervillains and superheroes.
Spider-Man Reign, with its darker, mature themes, is also believed to be inspired by Batman’s The Dark Knight Returns, by Frank Miller. It is so much that the character ‘Miller Jansen” in Spider-Man Reign was named after Miller Jansen.
A tweet from the official Spider-Man account shows a Kaare Andrews mini-series artwork that confirms the sequel comic is coming. The tweet also tells its followers to stay tuned for more information. Keep an eye out on Marvel’s channels in the coming days.
In other news, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 by Insomniac Games which is coming out on PlayStation 5 within a few months may face a delay or an outright ban in certain countries.
