ThePS PlusFollowing the last month’s games, September 2021 games will be available in just a few days. Because Sony puts so much emphasis on quality and variety, every month’s announcement and subsequent release prove to be huge. There is usually something for everyone with big titles. Games like Final Fantasy 7 RemakeAndControl: Ultimate EditionThe service is gracing.

But August 2021 was different from the rest of the year. PS Plus had three games that were not only low-quality but also very limited in appeal. Hunter’s Arena: Legends and Plants vs. Zombies are not for everyone, and each one is a niche. In fact, PS Plus’s August 2021 games were very much like its May 2020 selection–a highly limited set of games which, followed up with big games in June 2020, gave hope to fans for September 2021.

It doesn’t look like the story is the same here. The PS Plus September 2020 free games selection has been renamed Overcooked. All You Can Eat, Hitman 2, and Predator Hunting Grounds are available on the PS Plus September 2020 free games selection. It’s again a problem that the niches are largely untapped, with Hitman2 being the most popular. This is due to circumstances.

The PS Plus Free Games August 2021

Hunter’s Arena: Legends received mixed to average reviews on PS5, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville received mixed-to-good reviews and Tennis World Tour 2 received mixed or average reviews. While the average is acceptable, it usually means that some people love it and others don’t; the key is to find the right audience. This audience is very small.

Hunter’s Arena: Legends is a battle royale game at its heart, which is an incredibly popular genre. New BR games have been popping up and falling over the past few years, but it is now that the big three are limiting its appeal.

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is popular, there’s no doubt about that, but many may not be drawn to the simplistic, silly nature of the title. Tennis World Tour2 is at the opposite end of this spectrum since its primary audience is tennis enthusiasts. Unless someone was looking to find a new BR title, loved Plants vs. Zombies, and was a big tennis fan, there wasn’t enough variety to appeal to the masses.

September 2021 PS Plus Free Games

September 2021 may be a better option, but it still falls under the same trap. It’s too cooked! Hitman 2 and All You Can Eat have received positive reviews. Predator Hunting Grounds is a mixed jurisdiction. However, there are strong online opinions about it being on the lower end or as bad as possible. This is where the problem lies again.

You’re overcooked! All You Can Eat is an online cooking simulation. While this is certainly a popular genre, simulators are often targeted at specific audiences. Hitman2 is probably the most popular of the bunch, appealing to more gamers than the other titles. However, it’s worth noting that Hitman3 was released earlier in the year. Although it’s great to see Hitman 2 continue to be loved, if anyone was looking to replay Hitman 2 or play it more recently, Hitman 3 is likely to be their first choice.

Predator Hunting Grounds, an asymmetrical multiplayer online game, is loved by Dead by Daylight. Predator is a well-known IP, which makes it even more appealing. However, it’s difficult not to see the limitations of its reputation. Predator’s appeal is limited by the fact that there are many other multiplayer horror games.

A New PS Plus Pattern?

At the end of the day, PS Plus has offered some serious hitters throughout 2021. While it is entitled to some “bad” months, while it may not have the same appeal as other months, it has something for every particular fan in the last two months. September is similar to August, so it should be of concern if it follows a different pattern.

Way back, the month-to-month PS Plus pattern consisted of Sony releasing one big game alongside one niche game. With the PS5’s marketing and push to emphasize its audience, PS Plus grew to offer 4 or 5 big games every month. It seems to have settled on three, which is a good number. This also makes it easy to recognize a pattern. It’s possible that this doesn’t mean it is choosing more recent games. It’s not bad; it’s just that it could be better. PS Plus has already demonstrated this.
